These are the best commercials. I wish more people understood how much more enjoyable it is to own a Mac than a PC. I have owned one for a little over a year, and it has been a great experience.

I saw this on tuaw.com this morning, and I really hope that it’s not fake. If this functionality was part of Leopard, it would revolutionize the computer industry (again.) Come on Apple!
Of the Apple news that I have been highly anticipating (the full screen video ipod anyone?), I never expected them to release Boot Camp. It seems like they just sat there while the OSX86 project team struggled and struggled to dual boot Windows and just after they accomplished it, Apple said, "oh yeah, we knew how to do that all along. Here, try this… we have all the drivers working" and then giggled like school girls.
So, why would Apple release a product that will allow Intel Mac owners to dual boot OS X and Windows XP? Obviously, it's to sell more hardware. Now, people and institutions looking to buy computers but are afraid of trying new and beautiful things like OS X can add macs to their list of potential candidates. Apple has always produced very high quality hardware, and now they can sell it to Joe PC. Of course, when the users buy the Mac, they will get OS X by default which they might occasionally boot up, and they will slowly begin to discover how much better it is than Windows. And so, Apple increases their sales, gains more converts, expands their market share, and somewhere an angel gets its wings.

I'm addicted to two shows – Lost and 24. They have both been excellent over the last few episodes, and last night's Lost was no exception. This picture is Lost fanatics rendering of the UV drawing that Locke saw when the blast doors came down.
I have been using the Ruby on Rails framework since January for web application development. It's such a simple stack to implement, and now I find Java webdev so boring.
Anyway, the big news of the day is that DHH and the Rails team have just released Rails 1.1 that adds RJS, polymorphic associations, more control over eager loading, and lots and lots more.
As a tech nerd, I have often ignored the mobile space. This is mainly because I’ve never seen anything that seems that interesting to me. I do like that I can send an SMS message to Google at “GOOGL” (46645) with a local search query and get some kind of valid result. But it’s only really useful if you happen to know the zip code and name of the business you want to find. I can text “starbucks 10038″ and find the phone number to the Starbucks down the street.
But rants aside, I like the new mobile service from Paypal. Check out TechCrunch’s article about it - http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/03/22/paypal-mobile-launches-and-its-awesome/
I don’t buy a lot of things online that require paypal, but this might get me to change my mind.
I wanted to embed the Odeo flash player here, but alas… wordpress won’t allow it. So here’s the link instead. The Digital Story podcast is a great resource for hack photographers like me, and I found this podcast about metering modes interesting.
